Despite all the challenges of moving the 2020 National Lymphedema Network (NLN) Conference online, the virtual event was an impressive industry success, and we were thrilled with the results!

Originally slated to take place in San Diego from October 23-27, the NLN Conference was reformatted as a virtual event over the same dates. Over 500 industry professionals attended the event, including lymphedema therapists, physicians, clinical staffs, educators, students, patients, and exhibitors.

Each day featured breakout exhibit hall sessions so companies and organizations could present their stories, products, and services. Our company chose to set up the trade show booth that we typically use for conferences and events inside our conference room. We used our normal set-up, including our devices operating and filling garments affixed to mannequins.

As a Gold Sponsor, we were also able to present our company, our compression therapy devices and garments, and our approach to patient care during three exclusive sessions during the event. Our CEO, Gerry Makoid, addressed the attendees during a video about the history of AIROS Medical and our approach to developing easy-to-use products that drive the patient compliance needed to produce positive clinical outcomes.

We also debuted our new Arm Plus garment instructional video, which shows lymphedema therapists, clinicians, and patients how to apply, use, and remove these advanced garments that treat lymphedema present in the arm, shoulder, chest, and back. Watch it here:

“While I think everyone would agree that nothing can beat in-person conversations at events such as these, we were extremely impressed with the performance of the National Lymphedema Network team in executing the 2020 Virtual Conference,” says Makoid. “The content for participants was outstanding, the panelists and speakers were engaging and presented compelling information for the industry, and the virtual exhibit hall was well-attended during all five days. We were able to engage with lymphedema therapists, physicians, and patients during our presentations, and have been able to schedule many in-person and virtual meetings to present our compression therapy product line as a result. Kudos to NLN executive director Jeannette Zucker, the entire NLN team, our fellow exhibitors and the attendees for coming together even during these uncertain times to advance the lymphedema care industry.”

Just like the last NLN annual conference in Boston in 2019, we received excellent feedback on our entire product line, namely our AIROS 6 device and Arm Plus garment system. Together, these products provide therapists with an advanced treatment option for their Medicare patients being treated for upper extremity lymphedema. Due to traditionally high co-pays, difficulties surrounding compliance, and other factors, this patient population has been underserved. We were proud to hear positive remarks from various lymphedema therapists about our product line and various inquiries to test our products with their patients.

If you attended part of the event and were not able to visit our exhibit hall, or if you were unable to attend the event, please contact us for some informational materials.

Thank you again to the NLN – we look forward to seeing everyone in person next year.
